Engaged: Nicole & Tom
My favorite shoots are the ones where I feel like I'm not working - don't get me wrong, all my shoots are fun and the photos turn out wonderful, but some shoots just flow so naturally and feel more like I'm just chilling out with some new friends. This engagement shoot was exactly that. After getting acquainted with Nicole back in the fall and realizing we have about 17 mutual connections, I was so excited to finally meet her in person for her and Tom's engagement shoot. Even better - she's a planner just like me, so when I showed up, these two had already scoped out the park and located the exact spots they thought were good for photos (and they were totally right - just look at these awesome spots below). Having a natural affinity for my Type A comrades, I knew immediately that we were going to get along swimmingly.
Though Nicole and I had both wanted snow for these engagement photos, we settled for some melting snow on the ground and came up with an alternative plan that would be just as adorable for their shoot: cozy photos all bundled up in front of a campfire, complete with matching mugs. I was ecstatic about this plan until a bombshell dropped the morning of our shoot: Nicole texted me and sadly told me that the state park we were going to does not have a campground like we had originally thought. However the day was saved when Tom, surprising both Nicole and I, pulled from the back of his truck a portable fire pit, complete with logs and fire starter!
I had a perfect afternoon exploring the beautiful places below with Nicole and Tom. They were so fun and so easy going - and I couldn't help thinking that if I had this much fun shooting their engagement, I can't wait to see what adventures their wedding brings next September!
