Amber & Brent
The last time I saw Amber, we were running through the woods together spying on our parents and their friends during some picnic maybe 15 or so years ago (and there were many picnics back then). So you can imagine the happy surprise it was when Amber reached out in January to ask me to be her wedding photographer. Every day I'm just amazed by how many old friends photography brings back into my life - and the new ones!
Amber specifically requested spring photos, so you better bet I was going to do my best to deliver. However, the first week of April turned out to be less full of blooms than we hoped (thanks Western PA April frost). We decided on the beautiful Hartwood Acres for their engagement photos (which is gorgeous any time of the year) but had quite a scare the morning of our shoot - it turns out that a Netflix series (movie?) was being filmed at Hartwood Acres just a few days prior to the engagement shoot (very cool, I know!). So when I went the morning of to do a quick run through of the property, I almost had a heart attack when I saw the equipment everywhere and sections of the mansion roped off! Luckily everything was cleaned up by the time we got there that evening (and the panic subsided at that point - both mine and Amber's!). However, the rain was not so kind and the clouds made sunset arrive a whole 30 minutes before we anticipated- and it sprinkled consistently throughout the shoot. Yet through it all, Amber and Brent were such troopers and were so sweet and fun to photograph! Not one complaint or sideways look when I made them soldier on for just a little longer to get a few more great shots. And they definitely turn out to be great shots, thanks to their great attitudes, a beautiful blooming bush of forsythia, a few brave tulips, and the beautiful mansion.
I can't wait to capture Amber and Brent's wedding day in October!
