Why You Don’t Need a Perfect Family to Have Perfect Photos
If you’ve ever worried that your family is too wild, too chaotic, or too unpredictable for a photo session—this one’s for you. As an experienced Pittsburgh family photographer, I want to tell you something really important: the best family photos don’t come from perfection. They come from *gasp* real life and real moments.
Perfect is Overrated
Social media 100% makes it seem like we need matching GAP outfits, perfectly behaved kids, and Pinterest-worthy smiles to have a “successful” session. But let me tell you... This. Is. A. Lieeee. The most meaningful photos happen when you let go of the pressure and just *be* with your people.
Kids Will Be Kids—and That’s a Good Thing
I expect your toddler to wiggle. I expect your baby to snack. I even expect someone to get dirt on their pants within five minutes and someone will probably have a meltdown. That’s real life—and those in-between, unfiltered moments? They’re the ones that make your photos feel like YOU.
Real Connection Beats Perfect Posing
Of course I’ll guide you during your session. I'll make sure you never have that horrifying "but what do I do with my hands?!" moment. But I’m not looking for posed perfection—I’m looking for connection. The way your little one reaches for your hand. The way your partner looks at you when you're not paying attention. The way your whole crew cracks up over the worst Dad joke.
What Makes a Photo Perfect is YOU
Perfect photos don’t come from stiff smiles or flawless outfits. They come from love, laughter, movement, and emotion. They come from being present and letting the moments unfold naturally. So if you’re worried your family doesn’t look like the ones you see online (and believe me, no one's does) — just know you are exactly the kind of family I love to photograph. Real, and honest, and authentic.
